String Theory Yarn Shop is a local source of fabulous yarns, needles, and accessories for you, our fabulous yarn theorists. We work hard to make sure you always have access to the latest and greatest goodies in the universe! In addition to feeding your yarn addiction, we offer a variety of classes to help you learn a new craft or enhance your skills. Come in and let us help you find your next perfect project and get the help you need with the projects you’ve already started. How it all began…

String Theory Yarn Shop may have been founded in July of 2016, but really the journey began many years before. Way back in time in 2009 I, Shea Leonard, found myself sitting in a learn-to-knit class. Okay, it wasn’t that long ago, but little did I know where that class would take me. I had already been crocheting for years and had done some knitting when I was younger so I figured this class would be the perfect way to add to my crafty skill set. Seems innocent enough, right?

It only took a matter of weeks to fall absolutely head over heels in fiber love. I bravely ventured out trying new yarns and projects that would help me learn new skills. Before I knew it, I was deep into the world of yarn and started working at a wonderful local yarn shop. I loved the excitement of opening boxes of new yarn and other goodies, and I also loved helping others create their own yarn magic. Sadly that shop closed and it seemed for a moment as if I were lost. I knew working with yarn and having a shop was something I wanted to do with my life, but the timing wasn’t quite right.

Fast forward to the spring of 2015, and I still had those dreams of my own little slice of yarn paradise. I knew I needed to take the chance and create a place that could unite fiber enthusiasts from our local community and beyond. Thus, String Theory Yarn Shop was born.

It’s been a long road with a lot of hard work, but here we are. I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer, from our yarns, needles, and accessories to classes and events. We strive to give you the best experience, whether you knit, crochet, weave, spin, or just want to admire the amazing handiwork of your fellow yarn theorists.
