The kiddos are finally heading back to school, and you should too! We just posted our core classes over on our classes page and we hope you’ll find something that interests you. We still plan to add a couple of single-session technique classes throughout the fall, so keep an eye out for those. We will be sure to post on Facebook when those classes are added in.
On August 9th, String Theory Yarn Shop will be celebrating its 1st birthday! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we opened our doors. It’s been a great journey so far, from seeing everything come to life, meeting new people and reconnecting with others, to now a year of business under our belts.
I know I couldn’t have done any of this without you, my fellow theorists. You are the reason I look forward to waking up each morning and coming to the shop. You’ve been wonderful supporters of not only my dreams but also the dreams of other local artists.
You guys may think you’ve learned a lot from me, but it was really me that was doing the learning. I love seeing what new projects you’re working on and what patterns you’re excited about. It helps us to stay fresh with our shop samples and keep you all interested in your craft. I also have loved the ideas you’ve given me, some of which have been implemented in the shop. I truly look forward to the next year and hopefully the twenty or so after that!
Alright, that’s all for the mushy bits! On to the good stuff! The Birthday Bash will be taking place from Tuesday, August 8th through Saturday, August 12th. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ve got planned so far:
We are pleased to offer two special trunk shows on Saturday, August 12th. This is a great time to meet the people behind some of the products that already grace our shelves. Help us support these local artists by stopping in and grabbing some goodies!
The Fiberrarium – Jenna will be here with even more of her lovely yarns, plus some other goodies that aren’t typically available here in the shop.
Rock Solid Designs – Stephanie will be here with lots of snap bags to choose from and other awesome goodies, plus her brand new interchangeable needle cases.
Each day we will be featuring a different item or items that will be discounted for that day only. If you see something you like, be sure to mark your calendar and make your way to the shop!
We’re also starting a tradition of letting Shop Mom choose the sale items for the official shop birthday since it is hers as well! Our usual Wednesday night stitch night will be the official bash time, and we’ll have lots of cake to celebrate. Cake cutting will take place at 6pm. We expect to be extra busy that Wednesday night, so don’t forget to bring a chair!

No Birthday Bash would be complete without prizes! We will be bringing back the mystery yarn date bags that we debuted at our grand opening that will be packed full of awesome goodies. You will get one ticket each day you come in to the shop throughout the week, plus one additional ticket for each skein of yarn you purchase. You can then choose which prize or prizes you are most interested in and keep your fingers crossed that you win!
